For Students
AWC Student Chapters
AWC has its roots at the University of Washington (UW), where a group of women journalism students founded the organization in 1909 as Theta Sigma Phi. In nearly 100 years, the organization has evolved from a collegiate women’s journalism sorority into a strong national network of communicators representing a broad range of disciplines.
Today, there are professional and student chapters across the country. In Washington state, there are AWC student chapters at the UW and Washington State University (WSU).
The AWC Student Chapter at the UW welcomes all communications students — any student from another Puget Sound-area college or university is welcome to join the AWC Student Chapter at the UW.
