Join the board
Our board is made up of volunteers who are interested in the available position and how they can use their skills and knowledge to contribute to the AWC Seattle Chapter. Board members vary in age, ability and profession, but are each passionate about improving the AWC experience for our members. Currently, these position(s) on the board are open.
Volunteer on a committee
Many of our board members rely on the help of a committee, and often our larger programs or events are coordinated by a committee of volunteers who set up, promote and finalize the project. If you want to put your event planning abilities, social media talents or other communications skills to use, just let us know! Here are the committee positions we usually have available:
- Communications committee: Volunteers assist Marcom VP with email outreach, social media and website management. Duties include making regular updates to the content channels and monitoring for out of date content. Assist with overall management. Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week.
- Programs committee: Volunteers assist Programs VP with identifying and working with venues to host professional development and networking events. Can also take on affinity group responsibilities if desired. Time commitment: 2-3 hours per month.
- Membership committee: Assist Membership VP to manage outreach campaign to potential members, including identifying prospective members and sending promotions. Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week, possibly more during member drive season.
- Special events committee: Help manage planning for two major events: the annual Holiday Auction to raise funds for student scholarships and the June Awards Dinner where AWC Seattle distributes scholarships and other awards. Time commitment: 3-4 hours per week during planning season, which is approximately 2-3 months prior to the event.
